Homage to H.I.H. King Faisal – 1975 – Riyadh (Saudi Arabia)

Commissioned by architect Harwood K. Smith for the king’s retiring room in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, in 1975. Anodized and gold-plated aluminum prisms, 30’X3’X3’.

The presence of a polished, brass-colored structural column within a marble bar, helped determine the form of this work. The concentric panels of gold and silver prisms swell out around the column and taper at each end. A row of dark bronze prisms were included as a somber memorial note while retaining the golden radiant arms, like royal gestures.
